Preparation of a Viking village. Valand Review

A game that could possibly become an RTS/village defense game. Very early access.

The game is announced for the Windows platform.

The gameplay is an embryonic RTS.

Everything starts out just great. We have a main house from which we will develop our village.

Our workers are born here.

There are currently three types of resources in the game.

– Maximum number of slots for residents/fighters.

Food is completely useless now. It can be obtained by building a hunting lodge and assigning a worker there who will independently stuff wild boars and replenish our supplies.

The joke is that if food supplies become zero, then nothing will happen.

Coins are obtained from the sawmill. We build it and assign a worker. When processing wood, “gold” will drip into us.

Resident slots are predictably formed from the number of residential buildings. Each dwelling will give three units of possible units.

At the moment, all https://ae88casino.co.uk/mobile-app/ buildings and the creation of workers and fighters cost coins, so their extraction is a priority. It’s worth installing at least a couple of sawmills.

It is possible to make two types of combat units: swordsmen and archers. They are created in the corresponding buildings.

A LITTLE ABOUT MY "ADVENTURES"

Having figured out how everything works here, having saved some coins and built houses, I decided that I needed to do at least some action. I noticed that there are some other villages in the location. I decided to send my soldiers there to overcome the enemy Vikings.

Not very quickly, but the squad arrived at the place. Defeated opponents. An interesting feature: when attacking, the swordsmen fought normally, but the archers stood stupidly and did nothing.

Failed to demolish enemy buildings. And, in fact, without doing anything, we “went to the base”.

At this time, enemies attacked our village. Well, they attacked? They started running after the lumberjack worker, defeated him and simply stood still. My fighters returned and won here too. The archers finally started shooting.

That’s all, actually.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ Good overall idea with Viking village development.

+ Texts are available in Russian.

WHAT CAN BE A PLUS AND MINUS:

+- Simple but acceptable graphics.

+- Acceptable music and sound accompaniment.

CONS (A LOT!):

– Overall very little content.

– There is a cycle of day and night. You can’t see anything at night! This, in my opinion, is a serious flaw. At the same time, all units go about their business as if nothing had happened. Only the player is superfluous in this scheme. Probably there was an idea that the lights would illuminate the village if they were placed – they illuminate, but it’s extremely disgusting.

– Units are very poorly controlled. It’s good if after the tenth time you manage to send a lumberjack, for example, to build something. Vikings is noticeably buggy. It’s generally not clear what task you gave the unit, whether you gave it and whether he understood it. It is also worth adding here that if some worker dumped somewhere, it is extremely difficult to detect him; there is no control system.

– There is no point in the resource "food" yet. Although it is used properly and quickly enough.

– Battles and combat system are not done. The enemy camp cannot be demolished. Archers are buggy in attack.

– Saving does not work, although the corresponding buttons (save/continue) are available.

– It takes a very long time (about two minutes, maybe not three) for the world to load. In my opinion – too long for such an empty world.

In fact, now this is an embryonic RTS, in theory focusing on the construction and defense of your settlement. Very little content and a lot of mistakes. It’s hard to say whether anything good will come out of the game.

PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
